This session introduces participants to strategies for efficiently locating relevant lesson plans for classroom use, including a number of free teaching resources. Each participant will leave with resources for future use.
Internet in the Classroom:
Connect to the World. Willy-nilly Internet searches in the classroom are unproductive but incorporating subject-specific online resources can make a topic or lesson come alive for your students. Often more current than a printed textbook, many online statistics, charts, simulations and discussions are factual and up-to-the-minute. Each participant should come to this session with a specific topic in mind and should leave with a free Internet resource to enhance an existing unit, lesson, or project.
Research Beyond the Library:
Infusing Information Problems into Daily Lessons. This session, in cooperation with the school librarian, provides an overview of the online databases available via the school and public libraries. Through a discussion of the available resources and students’ skills, teachers gain an understanding of how to use these tools to enhance teaching and learning with a specific focus on consistent school-wide expectations for use of electronic resources and proper citations.
This series of hands-on workshops is designed to build a foundation for teaching in the digital age. Each three (3) hour workshop (up to 20 participants) includes time for demonstration, step-by-step guidance, personalized assistance, and group discussion. Sessions can be tailored to meet the specific needs of your group. This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
